Make- Up School Photos
Make-up school photos will be taken, Thursday, October 27, 2011. All students who were not photographed will be photographed for school records. In addition, any family who would like a photo re-take can do so on this day. Please read the re-take policy included in your childs’ photo package. Forms can be found in the school office.
Palo Verde Halloween Parade
The Palo Verde halloween costume parade will be at 10:30 am on Monday, October 31, 2011 in the blacktop area. Many parents and other family members traditionally enjoy this event with us. We hope this tradition continues. Since the parade starts after the morning recess (10:30), parents may help their child(ren) put on their costumes during the morning break. We do not want to get into pre-approving all costumes, but we do ask that parents and students please consider the appropriateness of the costume for school. Children MAY NOT BRING * Toy guns, toy knives, or any other pretend or real weapons * No blood or gore is allowed as well
Family Portraits Fundraiser in Juana Briones Park
Students with a Camera (SWAC) will be offering 25 min Mini Sessions on Nov 6, 2011, Gamble Gardens and Nov 12 and Nov 20, to capture family and individual portraits in Juana Briones Park, from 9am to 2pm. Sessions are $40 and include one 8×10 and an online viewing portfolio of your images. Visit our website to see samples and learn more about our organization. All photographs will be available for digital as well as print purchases and we have a great variety of custom holiday card designs as well as unique gifts and items for your home. You Can Make a Big Difference For Palo Verde With Escrip!
We’ll all be shopping more as the holidays approach – please be sure your credit cards are registered with eScrip and use the eScrip Online Mall to do your shopping. Every time you do, a percent of your purchases will go to Palo Verde! If you haven’t registered with eScrip yet, please go to www.escrip.com and register your most-used credit cards, Safeway Club Card number, etc. Our group number is 137331259. Once you’re registered with eScrip, there are two easy ways to take advantage of the eScrip Online Mall:
1) Go to shopping.escrip.com; search for the link to the online store where you want to shop; click on the link; shop!; pay with a credit card that you’ve registered with eScrip. That’s it!
2) An even easier way is to download the eScrip “AutoEARN” tool onto your computer. Once it is installed on your computer, you just go about your online shopping without entering the eScrip Online Mall. The tool will automatically track the percent donation when you go to any participating retailer, so you don’t have to keep track of the hundreds of participants.
To install the tool, go to shopping.escrip.com; click on the “Download AutoEARN” at the top of the page; follow the instructions. Voila! Hundreds of online retailers participate in the eScrip Online Mall. Please look for a flyer in the Friday folder with a long list of participating retailers and the percent of your purchase they will donate. The annual book fair will be November 14 – 18, just in time for the holidays. This is a fabulous event when Books Inc. sets up a store just for us in the Palo Verde multi-purpose room. The book fair has lots of books not just for our elementary students but for older children and parents too. As you might expect, it is a fundraiser for the students of Palo Verde. Noon Art Schedule
Noon Art is scheduled twice a month on Thursdays for 3rd, 4th, and 5 grades and Fridays for 1st and 2nd grades. We are always looking for help! Noon Art setup starts at 11:45 am and ends with cleanup at 1:00 pm.Save your empty cereal boxes, egg cartons and empty toilet paper rolls. We have set up bins in the front of the school.
