Palo Verde PTA and School News
New This Week
Join Us and Double Your Donation! Help us strengthen our schools!
Donations to Palo Alto Partners in Education (PiE) mean Tonya Bailey has almost $180K more to spend this year on classroom aides, reading specialists, Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo science lessons, Spectra Art, and Project Resilience. Over 40% of the caring adults that come to Palo Verde each week are paid for in whole or in part by PiE. And right now, through a matching grant, you can double your donation if you make it by September 5. Visit www.papie.org/donate or pick up a donation form and turn in your donation in the Palo Verde office.
Please don’t forget to submit your One-check form (in the back to school packet) to the main office. About half of the Palo Verde families have submitted their forms but we need the rest of them as soon as possible. If you join/renew your membership with the Palo Verde PTA, you will receive a free Baskin-Robbins ice cream coupon too.
If you have already submitted your PTA one-check form, THANK YOU!
Help Us Reserve a Date for our Ice Skating Party at the Winter Lodge
Don’t mind staying up late or getting up early in the morning? PTA is looking for volunteers to help us reserve a date for our fun-filled winter Ice Skating Party. Because of the high demand for weekend parties in the winter, we need volunteers to stand in line in shifts beginning in the late afternoon Tuesday, September 15th through the night until sign-ups open at 9:00am Wednesday, September 16th at the Winter Lodge. Please select a shift on the sign-up sheet if you can help: https://goo.gl/Wi5e65
The Palo Verde Online and Printed Directories
The Palo Verde student directory is a valuable resource that contains contact information to enable the school staff, PTA & parents to communicate with one another regarding school or class information. The directory is published exclusively for the convenience of school staff and families.
This year, the Palo Verde printed directory will be generated directly from the online directory. You must be included in the online directory to be included in the hardcopy version. Updates should therefore be made using the online directory. Information will be pulled from the online Directory to create the printed Directory on Wednesday, September 16, 2015.

Thank you, Palo Verde families, for your patience as we fully transition from forms to the new online system this year.
The Palo Verde Welcome Back Picnic was held on Friday evening, August 28th with a wonderful turnout of both new and returning families who brought their own picnic dinners and shared their summer adventures while students got to enjoy the play structures and run in the field under the setting sun. Everyone also shared some lemonade, watermelon and a selection of desserts. A special THANK YOU to Heather Schultz and her family for organizing this years picnic and Tamara Gracon for welcoming new families to Palo Verde and all the other parent volunteers that helped make this event a success. We hope you had fun and we look forward to seeing you at our next Palo Verde event, the Harvest and International Food Fair on Sunday, October 4th from 3-5pm.
