December Green Commuter Individual and Mileage Tracker Classroom Awards
Congratulations to Rooms 2, 6 and 15- our October Golden Sneaker Award winners. Mileage tracker forms for November are due by Friday, December 6. We will be holding our November Golden Sneaker raffle at the assembly on Wednesday, December 11. We will also be holding another raffle that day to award individual prizes to those students who walked, biked or carpooled to school three months in a row and turned in their mileage tracker forms for September, October and November. If your child green commuted all the three months, please print out the mileage tracker form
and submit it for the raffle by December 6. Thank your for choosing to walk, bike or carpool to school.
Toy Swap, December 7th 10-1pm
Are your old toys collecting dust? Bring your action figures, puzzles, games (board and video) legos and most other toys to the swap. Please, no broken toys, stuffed animals or books (the library will have a book swap later this school year).
How it works:
We’ll start accepting items at 9:30. Each person will receive tickets based on the type of items they bring to the swap. For example: action figures, 1 ticket; puzzles and board games, 2 tickets; video games and building sets, 3 tickets. From 10am until 1pm, tickets can be redeemed for toys at the swap on a first come, first served basis.
At the end of the swap all leftover toys will be donated to Goodwill (or another charity…I’d appreciate suggestions).
Questions or comments? Please let me know. Joslyn Leve, Green Team, joslynml at hotmail dot com.
Coming Soon… Family Movie Night!
Join your Palo Verde friends on Friday night, December 13, for a special holiday edition of Family Movie Night. Bring your own reusable water bottle and a floor blanket or cozy pillow to the MP Room at 6:30pm. PTA will provide the fresh, hot popcorn and the movie. You help us make it a party! Please note, this is NOT a drop-off event. All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Family Movie Night is a FREE social event for all Palo Verde families sponsored by the PTA. Questions? Contact Heather Schultz.
Palo Verde Run Club
Hello Palo Verde Community! Instead of holding a Girls on the Run program this year at Palo Verde, the PV coaches, Mrs. Brown, and I decided to instead have our very own Palo Verde Run Club, which will be open to both girls and boys in 4th and 5th grades. The Palo Verde run club will be absolutely free of charge for families. We are thrilled to offer a health-promoting after school club that is free for students and open to both girls and boys. The Palo Verde Run Club will meet twice each week starting on March 10th, after school from 3:00-3:40 on Mondays and one other day during the week that is yet to be determined. The club sessions will not only focus on noncompetitive running, but also on teamwork, building compassion/empathy, and on developing confidence and a positive self-esteem in our student-athletes. Be on the lookout for more details to follow after winter break.
Have a great week!
