MOVIE NIGHT

And the winner is … MINIONS!
This Friday at Family Movie Night we’ll be showing Minions!  Join us in the MP Room at 6:30pm for a fun evening with your Palo Verde friends.  Remember to bring your own travel mug, plus a cozy floor blanket and pillows.  PTA will supply the hot, fresh popcorn!  Remember: Family Movie Night is NOT a drop-off event.  All little Minions must have a full grown mastermind with them.  See you at the movies!

Palo Verde PTA Spring Social & Auction
Palo Verde Rocks – 90’s Style

Our biggest FUN-draiser and Social Event of the year is coming up on Saturday, April 16, 2016!!!

Mark those Calendars!
Wednesday, March 16
Event Ticket Sales Start for Palo Verde Rocks – 90s Style
Monday, March 28 – Online Catalog Available
Friday, April 1 – Online Auction Opens
Saturday, April 16 – Palo Verde Rocks – 90s Style Event
Friday, April 22 – Online Auction Closes

In previous years, the silent auction items have only been available at the event.

This year, the majority of the silent auction is going online through SchoolAuction.net.  Starting April 1, summer camps, gift cards, and more go up on our e-auction. Last year, we used SchoolAuction.net for items that were still available after the auction event and it was quite successful.

But wait, not everything will be online. The popular Principal-of-the-Day, 5th Grade Promotion Front Row Seats, Teacher/Staff Parties and Parent Parties will only be available for sign-up and bidding starting at the the Palo Verde Rocks event on April 16th. So be sure to get your tickets and get ready to rock the 90s!

We are planning for and looking forward to a great event all around!

Please do not hesitate to contact us at vp.fundraising@pvpta.org with any questions or interest in helping out.  There are many aspects to pulling this event together and most are quite fun.  Every little bit counts!

Talent Show is coming soon! (May 9)
It’s time to start thinking about your Talent Show act!  Entry forms will come home just before Spring Break and Auditions will take place soon after.  Please remember that:
  • acts need to be 2 minutes or less,
  • acts must be inoffensive (please check music selections),
  • each participant can only take part in one act,
  • acts may be individual or in groups
  • acts must be rehearsed and “show-ready”
  • acts must be previewed at the auditions in order to be eligible for the show

Volunteers are essential to make the talent show happen, both before and during the show.  If you are able to help out, please email: Denise White (glen.denise.white (at) gmail (dot) com) or Laam Wong (laam.wong (at) gmail (dot) com

Art Night was a HUGE success
On Tuesday February 2, over 100 families attended the Palo Verde Family Art night. Some kids made Animal Stabiles using colorful  shapes, others spent their creative time making animal accordion book art with re-used cd covers. The Japanese Gyotaku fish printing was also very popular.

The evening had a quiet buzz, creative and friendly. A big thank you goes out to Betsy Halaby and Suzie Peyton from Create Café for bringing the inspired project ideas and all of the materials.

Several volunteers were instrumental in making the evening fun for kids. They were: Heather DeLaCruz, Sunita Ganapati, Su Khiong Yong, Harshni Raghav, Hannah Lu, Janelle Graves, Mukta Awasthi, and Jennifer Cassano. Palo Verde continues to have fun family events thanks volunteers like you– thank again for making the evening such a huge success!

From Last Week

Palo Verde Norecard Fundraiser

It’s time for our annual Notecard Fundraiser!  Each child designs his/her own personal and unique note card.  They come in very handy and also make great gifts (Mother’s Day/Father’s Day).  In addition to notecards, there are other products (notepads, stickers, and gift tags) that you can also order at the same time.  Siblings, Parents and Grandparents are welcome to design and order products through this Fundraiser as well!  Please join us and enjoy your creative and artistic talent.
A portion of the proceeds goes directly to our school.
The notecards and order forms will go home in the Friday folders around Valentine’s Day. Extra blank notecards and order forms are available in the office. Please return the order form, completed notecard, and a check made payable to “Palo Verde PTA” to your child’s teacher or the office by Friday, February 26th.  The orders will be distributed in late April or early May. Question? Contact Junghee Hsieh, heatherjhcho AT hotmail DOT com
