We are All Winning with eScrip!
Congratulations, the 3 winners of our September draw for the $10 Safeway Gift Cards are: Queenie Huang, Norie Haines, & Willy Lai. Look for your prizes to go home in the Friday Folders this week.
For October, celebrate the fall harvest with Piazza’s. Everyone registered with eScrip will be eligible to win one of 3 $10 gift cards for Piazza’s Fine Foods. Winners to be drawn at the end of the month.
Just go to www.escrip.com and click on “sign up”.
Search and select “Palo Verde PTA”.
Follow the registration steps and you’re done.
Then when you shop with your eScrip registered credit or loyalty cards, you automatically raise money for Palo Verde. It’s that simple.

will be on Tuesday, October 15 starting at 8:30 in the MP Room
Wildlife on campus, your PTA dollars in action Grades 2-5 at Palo Verde met with some special animals from the Wildlife Associates.. The guests were all rescued and can no longer survive in the wild. The kids enjoyed getting close to a red fox, a red-tailed hawk, an opossum a porcupine and an owl. Ask your child how sharp a hawk’s talons are, the size of an opossum at birth, what a porcupine’s quill is made of! New this year, the PTA Board worked with Principal Brown to fund these types of programs and we’re off to a great start! Noon Art
WOW!! We had a huge turnout this week for Noon Art! The kids had so much fun making pom-pom shooters out of recycled yogurt containers. Ask you child about them, everyone was playing with them on the playground and after school. Our next noon art will be held on October 3rd and we would love to have some help. We start at 11:30am to set up, the kids arrive to do the project at 12:00pm and cleanup starts at 12:30. Join us for as much time as you have!! It’s a blast and the kids love having their parents help out. See you there!!
Noon art also needs the following recycled goods for some upcoming projects: toilet paper rolls and empty yogurt containers. There will be a plastic container marked “Noon Art” located at the front of the school for you to place these items. Thanks so much!
Green Commute During Our October Walk and Roll Week and Double Your October Miles
October Walk and Roll Week is from October 7-11. Green commute (walk, scooter, bike, carpool) that week and double your miles for October. On Wednesday October 9, the traffic safety team will be setting up tables outside the three school entrances before the morning bell to thank all our green commuters. Please have your child stop by, collect a healthy snack and get a thank you stamp from one of our volunteers. We will also be picking out the first three classroom winners of our golden sneaker award during that day’s assembly. Please turn in your mileage tracker forms for September in by September 30. Math Night
at Palo Verde, MP Room: Build It Sponsored by the Palo Verde PTA
Tuesday, October 15th 2013, 6:00-7:45 PM
Build It! brings out the engineer and the architect in everyone. Participants exercise their design, problem-solving, creativity, and spatial skills by constructing in both two and three dimensions. The Build It! Festival includes several bridge-building activities, some of them illustrating design elements of the world-class new San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.
Volunteers needed to assist with the stations. To volunteer, please contact Theivanai Palaniappan at theivanai_p (at) hotmail dot com by Friday October 4th.
Lost something? Have you checked the Lost and Found Cart? Been wondering where that coat or sweater are? Can’t find that pair of eyeglasses? Don’t remember the last place you saw your stilettoes? Unable to locate your razor scooter?

Please come by and check it out, encourage your kids to check it out too! It sits outside Mrs Brown’s office from before school until quite a while after school finishes! I make a big effort to return labelled clothes and items to owners, please help by labeling everything! A few minutes can save a lot of dollars!
