Hello Parents & Caregivers of our Palo Verde Children,
The Palo Verde PTA Executive Board was elected on October 25th, 2021. We are confident that we will hit our stride in the coming months and create meaningful events that are not just educational but also make for beautiful memories for our children. We want to bring back the sense of belonging/camaraderie that a neighborhood school inspires.
We would first like to invite everyone to join the PTA (Check out Why PTA?). We want to lead with integrity and create an inclusive community that values our mission of positively impacting the lives of children and families. This vision begins with rebuilding, retaining, and increasing membership to include collaborative and inclusive family engagement with our school administrators, families, and staff.
Here are some immediate ways to engage with the PTA:
BECOME A MEMBER:
If you are not a PTA member yet, please consider joining. The PTA provides programs on strengthening family-school partnerships, and free resources for members on key issues. Be a part of a powerful association that can advocate on behalf of children and educators at the local, state and national levels. The membership fee is $12 & there is an additional $1 fee for using the online registration.
VOLUNTEER:
We are looking for volunteers to help with a bunch of events – both large (International Fair) or small (coffee carts for our staff). Please indicate your volunteering interest via this survey. The events and volunteers will be managed via Konstella – so please do register there.
DONATE:
Your donations help us create fun/unique programs, provide the discretionary fund for our teachers, provide materials for the classrooms, books for the library, fund activities, and school and community events such as STEAM nights, or Family Fun Evenings, once those are permitted.
Here are some donation options to consider:
- With holidays around the corner, consider using Amazon Smile for your holiday shopping. 0.5% of your shopping expense reaches the PTA. Amazon Smile can now be turned on in the phone app.
- The library receives the majority of its funding from the PTA. Participate in Adopt-a-book and help buy books for the library by donating $15 per book.
- Please consider a one-time PTA donation in the amount of $150. Also, consider asking your company about matching donations. The holiday season is a time of gratitude, and now might be an excellent opportunity to make those matching donations. The checks can be made payable to Palo Verde Elementary PTA.
The PTA can be effective only with engaged parents and teachers. We look forward to partnering with you through this journey. The Executive Board will host a coffee/donut meet & greet at Seale Park on Saturday, Nov 20th, 10-11 AM. If you have the time, do drop by and say hi.
